As adults, we often think about sharing our stories
with younger generations, to help them learn and grow from our lived experiences.
The inverse is just as right and true.
Young people have important stories to share that help adults learn and grow from their lived experiences as youth.
…And One to Grow On is the passing up and passing down of our community’s stories. In 2021, 826 Dallas Project and Deep Vellum will launch an ongoing digital collection of personal stories written by youth and adults from across North Texas and beyond.
Whether you’re 9, 19, or 99, we invite you to share your story.
How Does
This Work?
For Storytellers 18 and Older
Step One | Write Your Story
Respond to the prompt: Tell us about a time you learned something important from a young person.
All stories must be less than 5 minutes in length.
Prepare your video: If you’d like to record your story, but aren’t sure how, check out our short how-to guide to get started.
Step Two | Submit Your Story

For Storytellers Under 18
Step One | Get Permission
If you are under 18 years old, you’ll need to get your parent/guardian permission to participate.
Please download this permission form - http://bit.ly/under18permission
There are two ways to sign the form:
Download the form, then upload to a free signature website including: https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/online/sign-pdf.html
Print the form, sign it, then take a photo of all pages of the permission form.
You’ll be asked to upload the signed form in Step Three below.

Decide if you’d like to tell your own story, or if you’d like someone else to read your story for you. All stories must be less than 5 minutes in length.
